Monday arrived, the coffee machine still works, and the internet hasn't collapsed under the weight of quantum computers. That probably says more about how headlines get written than where the technology actually is.

A lot of people seem to imagine a single dramatic moment where everything changes overnight. Reality is usually much slower. Systems get upgraded gradually, standards evolve, and most people never notice the transition.

The funny thing is that when the important security changes do happen, they'll probably be far less exciting than the predictions. It'll mostly be software updates and administrators quietly doing their jobs.
