Quantinuum's newest quantum computer is heading to one of the big cloud platforms. Quantum Zeitgeist reports that the Helios trapped ion system is becoming available through Oracle Cloud Infrastructure under a new beta programme called OCI Quantum AI Compute

Selected organisations will be able to use Helios alongside Oracle's GPUs and high performance computing resources, building hybrid workflows that mix quantum, AI and classical computing. Organisations apply through Oracle's preview programme portal, and Oracle chooses participants based on eligibility, capacity and programme requirements, so applying does not guarantee access

The article notes that Helios installation is still in progress. The companies recommend a problem first approach, starting with workloads that already use a disproportionate amount of computing resources, setting a classical performance baseline, and then testing where quantum might give a measurable advantage

Quantinuum chief commercial officer Larry Stack and Oracle executive vice president Mahesh Thiagarajan are due to present on the topic at Oracle AI World 2026. The write up is based on a Quantinuum blog post and contains no benchmarks, qubit counts or speedup figures

Getting quantum hardware into major clouds makes it far easier for businesses to experiment without huge upfront costs. The problem first advice is refreshingly sensible, because many quantum pilots start with the technology rather than the need. Oracle has been quieter than AWS, Microsoft and Google in quantum, so this partnership helps it catch up

Would your organisation try quantum through a cloud provider? And is the problem first approach the right way to find real uses?
