The mood among quantum investors seems to be improving. Quantum Zeitgeist reports that Jason Lynch, chief executive of Irish quantum company Equal1, says attracting investment is easier now than at any point in the company's history

Speaking to the Business Post, Lynch said Equal1 is eight years into its journey and that today is the easiest it has been. He credits advances in quantum hardware and software, along with rising demand for artificial intelligence, for the growing confidence among investors

Equal1 builds silicon based, hybrid quantum classical machines. Its RacQ system is a rack mounted quantum computer designed to go straight into existing data centres, which the company sees as the way to take quantum beyond research labs

The report does not give funding amounts, valuations or investor names, so this is Lynch's own reading of the market rather than a set of hard numbers. Still, it fits a wider pattern this year, with several quantum companies raising large rounds and public quantum stocks attracting attention

Silicon is an appealing route because it could borrow from the enormous chip manufacturing industry. A machine that slots into a standard rack is also much easier for a data centre operator to imagine buying than a room sized fridge. If AI demand keeps pulling money into compute, quantum companies that fit alongside GPUs could benefit most

Is the quantum funding climate as healthy as Lynch says? And does rack mounted hardware give silicon qubits an edge?
