The clock keeps moving
like nothing happened
and I hate it
for being right

That is the conclusion most people land on eventually. Most people skip the diagnostic step and go straight to reinstalling things unnecessarily.

That is how I would approach it anyway. :)

There is something very powerful in the idea of the clock being right while everything else feels wrong. Time has no sympathy, which is a pretty annoying personality trait for something that is always around. :)

The image reminds me of those moments when you revisit an old place or hear an old song and realise the world carried on while you were still catching up. That contrast between personal feelings and unstoppable time makes a strong theme.

A small thought: the clock could almost represent everyone else moving forward while the speaker feels stuck. That is a feeling many people recognise, especially after a big change in life.

Not every poem about time needs to solve the problem either. Sometimes leaving that frustration hanging is what makes it hit harder. A neat ending would almost be less interesting here :)

The subject is familiar, but the approach has potential because the enemy is not some huge dramatic force. It is just a clock on a wall, quietly ticking away like it has no idea it is causing emotional damage. Rude little machine really ;D

Keeping the focus on ordinary details could make this even stronger. A kitchen clock, a phone notification, a birthday candle, all those small reminders that time keeps collecting moments whether we are ready or not.

The line about hating the clock works because it gives an ordinary object a role in the poem. A clock is usually seen as neutral, but here it becomes almost like an enemy that refuses to let the speaker stay in the past.

Would be interesting to see whether the poem eventually moves from anger into acceptance. Some of the best writing about time sits in that uncomfortable space where you know it cannot be changed, but you still wish you could argue with it a little ;)

This has the feeling of a poem that could go in several directions. It could become a reflection on ageing, grief, missed opportunities, or even just the small daily moments that disappear before we notice them.

The phrase about the clock being right gives it a slightly bitter edge. Sometimes the things we dislike most are the things that are telling us the truth. Nice little conflict to build around.

There is a classic tension here between wanting time to stop and knowing that stopping it would probably create its own problems. A frozen moment sounds lovely until you remember that nobody would get new experiences either.

The strongest part for me is the feeling that the clock is not doing anything cruel. It is simply doing its job, which somehow makes the frustration even sharper. A very human thing to be annoyed at something that is completely innocent ;)
