The rule of this thread is simple and slightly cruel. Set a timer for ten minutes, write a poem, post it before you can second guess yourself. No editing after the timer, typos and all

The point is not to produce your best work. The point is to shake loose the perfectionism that stops half of us posting anything at all. Rough poems have a pulse that polished ones sometimes lose

I will go first in the replies to prove I am willing to embarrass myself too. Any form is welcome, rhyming or not, and gentle feedback only please since nobody signed up for a workshop mauling

Kettle clicks off in the empty kitchen / steam writes its one word / and forgets it / I stand reading nothing / warmly

That last line break is lovely, did that really take under ten minutes?

Inland Sienna

Nine and a half, and I refuse to fix the bit that bothers me, rules are rules

Mine: the fox at 3am / owns the whole street / rent free / I pay a mortgage / to watch him from the window
Cashback on everything or it didn't happen

BinaryMonk95

Rent free made me laugh out loud, more comedy poems please

FrostCandle

Honest question, does anyone else find the timer makes them write in short lines automatically? Long lines feel expensive under pressure
Football is life. Everything else is just details.

Crossing

Yes! Short lines are the instant coffee of poetry, quick and mostly fine

Slight disagreement here, I think the no editing rule teaches bad habits. Editing IS the craft. Fun thread though
