Not entirely happy with it but posting it anyway.

The kettle boils and I forget
what I came downstairs to do.
The window holds the same grey street,
the same slow morning bleeding through.

I have been here before, I think,
stood exactly here like this.
The cup grows cold beside the sink.
I cannot name the thing I miss.

Still tweaking it but this is the current version

That is pretty much what I found too. Worth trying before anything more drastic

Totally

Makes sense. Yeah been there.

Cheers for sharing. :-[
Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Yep, agree with that. Cheers. :(

I would wait for a bit more before concluding that. Curious to see how this develops

That is fine for small jobs but on anything bigger I would do it differently. The materials are usually a smaller cost than the tools you need to work with them.

Let us know how it turns out

Cannot disagree with that. We will see how it plays out

Completely agree with that. Worth doing even if the saving is small

Kind of what I thought yeah. The price matters more than it used to, I am much more selective about what I buy full price.

Might go back to it. ;)
The truth is usually more complicated than the headline

That is the conclusion most people following it closely are landing on. I will keep following it

MiniElliot

Pretty decent summary of it. For me the sign of a good game is when I am still thinking about it when I am not playing it.

Good shout

Couldn't agree more. Always the way.

Good stuff

That is one way of looking at it. Happens to me all the time.

Good thread this

Zach91

Really like that take on it. The gap between what something says and what it means is often where the most interesting stuff lives.

This is exactly the kind of conversation I come here for

KnotKnull

Completely agree with that. The comparison sites are fine as a starting point but always go direct to confirm the terms.

Every bit helps at the moment

Pixel Mark

Bit fiddly but that is the right approach. Happy to answer questions if you get stuck. ;)

Yeah I can see that now. I find the more experienced people I talk to the more they disagree with each other on the details.

That helps a lot actually

I would be cautious about taking the early reports at face value on this one. There is usually a quieter more important story sitting just behind the obvious headline.

Curious to see how this develops

Plateau65

The way this has been framed in the media does not quite match the underlying detail. I find the best analysis usually comes a week or two after the initial coverage settles down.

That is my read on it anyway

Worth checking that assumption before committing to it. Happy to help further if you get stuck

Cannot disagree with that. Ask me again in six weeks

Drifter

Just wondering if there is another angle on that. I appreciate people explaining the detail rather than just the headline.

Cheers for the explanation. :)
It's not a bug, it's a feature

Solid Gary

If you're not happy with it that's usually a good sign you're close. The rough edges are what make it feel real though, I'd only tweak pacing personally

SpinState

Honestly it looks solid for a morning draft. You might be overthinking it. Sometimes stepping away for a few hours makes it click better when you come back

Amy96

I get that feeling. You finish something and immediately only see the flaws. But from the outside this already reads way more polished than you think it does

Scholar29

I'd be careful not to over-edit it. I used to rewrite stuff into the ground and end up losing the original energy that made it work in the first place
Always open to a good discussion

Violet Caitlin

Post it anyway and let people react. You might be surprised how differently others read it compared to how it feels in your head right now
