Salesforce and Anthropic just announced an expanded partnership called Claudeforce, pairing Claude's reasoning with Salesforce's enterprise data and workflow layer. The headline product is Salesforce in Claude, a plugin bundling 37 prebuilt sales skills like meeting prep, deal health review, and pipeline review directly inside Claude. The idea is to let Claude reason over live revenue data and actually take governed actions rather than just answering questions about it. It's rolling out to select pilot customers now with a wider open beta planned for September

The flip side of the partnership brings Claude into Salesforce itself, serving as the reasoning model behind Agentforce's Atlas Reasoning Engine and powering things like Agentforce Coworker by default. Claude is also apparently the first outside model fully integrated within what Salesforce calls its Trust Boundary, which matters a lot for regulated industries worried about data handling. That's a fairly deep level of integration for a partnership between two companies this size

Slack gets pulled into this too, with Claude becoming the default model across Slack, Slackbot, and a new Slack Code effort for collaborative coding. Salesforce says Slackbot alone has already driven millions of hours of internal productivity gains for their own employees. Using your own product internally before pushing it externally is at least a reasonable way to prove it actually works

What's interesting is the mutual customer angle, where Salesforce becomes Anthropic's preferred CRM while Anthropic becomes deeply embedded across Salesforce's own tooling. That kind of reciprocal arrangement usually signals both sides are betting fairly heavily on the other sticking around long term. Whether smaller businesses actually get meaningful value out of 37 prebuilt sales skills versus just needing basic CRM automation is a fair question though

Enterprise AI partnerships like this tend to sound more transformative in the press release than they end up feeling in daily use. Curious to see what pilot customers actually report once the open beta widens out in September
