Nvidia unveiled the Jetson Orin Nano 2, a compact edge computing board aimed at bringing physical AI capabilities to entry level robots, delivery and inspection drones, and vision AI systems. The new board delivers 78 trillion operations per second of AI compute alongside 8GB of memory and an eight core Arm CPU, doubling the inference performance of its predecessor while cutting power consumption by 40 percent at equivalent performance levels, all within the same compact form factor

Nvidia VP of robotics and edge AI Deepu Talla said today's small and medium frontier models have reached the accuracy of last year's largest frontier models, meaning that level of capability can now run directly on compact edge hardware rather than requiring a data center connection. More than 3 million developers already build on Nvidia's robotics stack, and early adopters include Cognex, Doosan Bobcat, Matic Robotics and delivery drone company Wing, which is exploring the board to build more responsive, energy efficient drones

Matic Robotics specifically plans to use the chip to give its home cleaning robots conversational AI, gesture detection and deeper semantic understanding of a home's layout for more autonomous cleaning. The Jetson Orin Nano 2 module and developer kit are expected to be available in the first half of 2027.
