The G7 summit is happening near Geneva this week with 50,000 protesters expected and businesses boarding up windows in anticipation. The agenda includes AI governance alongside economic coordination, Ukraine, trade and climate.

G7 summits produce communiques that range from genuinely consequential to effectively decorative. On AI specifically the gap between what the summit can practically achieve and what the moment requires is significant.

What would a genuinely useful output from the G7 on AI look like, and are you expecting anything close to that?
