A real regulatory marker just landed. France's cybersecurity agency ANSSI announced at the France Quantum conference that from 2027 it will only certify security products that use quantum resistant encryption, and its chief of staff said businesses should buy only quantum safe products by 2030. Since ANSSI certification is the gateway for selling into French government and critical infrastructure, and qualification takes 12 to 18 months, vendors starting now barely fit the window

The driver is the harvest now decrypt later threat, adversaries hoovering up encrypted data today to read once quantum computers mature, which is why certification cannot wait for Q day to actually arrive. The framing from ANSSI was notably broad, calling it a matter of governance, industrial planning, regulation and sovereignty rather than just a technical tweak

The US is on a parallel track, with the June executive order requiring federal agencies to adopt approved post quantum standards by end of 2031 and the NSA requiring new national security acquisitions to support quantum resistant algorithms from January 2027. France and the US have effectively converged on 2027 as the year quantum readiness becomes a pass or fail procurement test

The crypto angle in the coverage is where it gets debatable. Algorand published a post quantum roadmap targeting resilience across every network layer by end of 2027, native post quantum accounts using the lattice based Falcon scheme arriving in Q3 2026, and it has used Falcon for State Proofs since 2022. The beincrypto piece frames the regulatory deadlines as validation that could put it ahead of rival chains, though ALGO itself trades around 9 cents so the market is hardly euphoric about it yet

So two threads for the board. On the serious side, when a national security agency makes post quantum a certification requirement, does that finally force the whole vendor ecosystem to move, and on the crypto side, is a chain being early on Falcon signatures a genuine durable edge or just a marketing talking point until Q day is actually near?

The certification gate is the thing that actually moves markets, forget roadmaps and promises, the moment you cannot SELL to the French government without quantum safe crypto, every vendor's timeline suddenly gets real

Slay40

Harvest now decrypt later is the only argument that justifies moving this early and it is a good one, the data being stolen today is the data being read in 2032, waiting is the mistake

On the chain being early, Falcon since 2022 for State Proofs is a real head start, but being early on signatures is only an edge if institutions actually price post quantum readiness into which chain they trust, and right now they mostly do not

Distant Sienna

They do not price it in YET, that is the whole bet. France and the US converging on 2027 is exactly the kind of thing that turns a nobody cares checkbox into a diligence requirement over a couple of years

Northernah

ALGO at 9 cents tells you the market thinks this is a talking point, not an edge. If post quantum readiness were actually being valued the price would show it, and it does not

Elliot_30

Price is not the same as adoption though, plenty of genuinely important infrastructure trades for nothing because the payoff is years out. The chart is not the thesis here
Question everything. Especially this.

The sovereignty framing from ANSSI is the underrated bit, they explicitly called it industrial planning and sovereignty, this is Europe using procurement rules as industrial policy the way it always does

Coastal Otter

Falcon signatures being large is the practical catch nobody in the crypto coverage mentions, post quantum signatures bloat block space and change the economics, the migration is not a free swap

RedKnight

Every chain will claim post quantum readiness within two years, the ones that actually shipped and tested it years early like the Falcon users will be the only ones whose claims survive scrutiny when it matters
Red Devils for life.

The 12 to 18 month certification lag is the sleeper detail, it means the real deadline is not 2027, it is now, any vendor not already in the pipeline has effectively already missed it
