Dell Tech World kicked off Monday in Las Vegas and the keynote was basically a thesis on enterprise AI moving back on premise. The headline announcement was PowerRack, a rack scale platform combining compute, networking, storage and cooling into a single system. Dell also unveiled Deskside Agentic AI for running agents locally without data leaving the network.

Dell added 1,000 new AI Factory customers last quarter for a total of 5,000, with Eli Lilly, Honeywell and Samsung named. The pitch is clear, enterprises want AI but not at the cost of sending sensitive data to cloud providers. The expansion of on prem support for OpenAI, Google, Palantir and SpaceX models is the kicker.

This is a real countercurrent to the past three years of cloud first AI deployment. Whether Dell can actually execute on the agentic AI angle remains to be seen, but the data sovereignty angle is genuinely resonating with regulated industries

On prem AI is the obvious endgame for any regulated industry, no CIO wants their model weights running on AWS
Posted from a machine that definitely needs a clean install

PowerRack is just a rebrand of liquid cooled GPU racks Dell has been selling for two years

The new bit is the integration, not the components, but yeah the marketing is layered on thick

Six times faster query performance on GPU accelerated storage is a specific claim worth looking at the benchmarks for

Dell partnering with Palantir and SpaceX in the same sentence is a sign of the times
Real till I die.

Honestly I work at a hospital network and the on prem agentic stuff is exactly what we need, cloud is off the table for HIPAA reasons

Five thousand AI Factory customers in eighteen months is a real number, this is not hype

Coffee first. Questions later.

Anyone got actual TCO numbers comparing Dell AI Factory to equivalent AWS Bedrock at scale
