I have bought a few no name SD cards over the years and they always seem to fail eventually. At this point I am wondering if it is just better to stick to known brands like Samsung EVO Select 128GB microSD Card or SanDisk Extreme PRO 128GB SDXC UHS-I Card even if they cost more upfront.

Yes 100 percent false economy I lost data twice before switching to branded cards. I also bought fakes from China. So I'm only buying from Amazon now.

The failure rate on cheap cards is just not worth the risk if your data matters at all.

I use Samsung EVO for everything now and have not had a single failure yet.

You end up paying more replacing failed cards so just buy a good one once.
Still figuring it all out
