Amazon publicly committed to quantum computing delivering value for actual business problems by 2031. That's surprisingly near-term given current state of technology. Five years is deadline for error correction scaling fault tolerance and real-world utility. The optimism seems driven by progress in error correction and algorithm development. But 2031 assumes no major setbacks and continuous exponential scaling. Most quantum companies are more cautious with timelines but Amazon has AWS credibility. If they miss 2031 it signals the field is further behind than believed. If they hit it quantum becomes real infrastructure not research. The confidence is notable given how many times timelines have slipped. Either Amazon knows something others don't or they're optimistic gamblers.

Amazon has skin in the game. They're building quantum infrastructure. Missing 2031 costs them billions in infrastructure bets. Their confidence should be taken seriously
