Music from our teenage years has a special hold on us. Researchers have found that songs we hear between about 12 and 22 tend to stay with us more strongly than anything we hear later. That might explain why some tracks that were objectively not great still make us grin when they come on. Nostalgia does a lot of heavy lifting

I am thinking of songs you might be slightly embarrassed to love. Cheesy pop hits, novelty songs, questionable dance tracks or bands that critics hated. You know they are not masterpieces, but they still sound brilliant to you. Some of them probably remind you of school discos, first jobs or summer holidays

My own example is a cheesy Eurodance track from the 1990s that I heard on repeat during a family holiday. It is repetitive, ridiculous and probably terrible by any objective standard. But whenever it comes on, I am transported straight back to a sunny campsite with a cheap portable radio. I will defend it forever

Please just name the song and artist and tell us why it means something to you. No need to quote lyrics, the titles will be enough to bring back memories for everyone
