I would only bother if the saving is real and not just headline nonsense. I will keep an eye on it

The Stone Roses immediately came to mind. That debut album is one of those records people still talk about decades later.

The follow-up had its moments, but it never felt as fresh or as influential. Maybe the expectations were simply impossible to meet.

Arctic Monkeys are an interesting one because some people would say the debut was their peak, while others think they improved as they experimented.

"Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not" captured a particular moment so perfectly that it is hard for any later album to compete with it.

Keane had a fantastic start with "Hopes and Fears".

They released some good songs afterwards, but that first album had a consistency that is incredibly difficult to repeat. Every track seemed memorable.

Would probably throw The La's into the conversation, although circumstances played a big part.

That self-titled album became legendary, and there was never really another chance to build on it. It is one of those great musical "what if" stories.

Oasis might be a controversial choice. Plenty of people prefer "(What's the Story) Morning Glory?", but there is something raw and exciting about "Definitely Maybe" that never quite came back.

Sometimes the hunger of a debut cannot be recreated.
