Cashback sites are one of the easiest ways to make extra money online in the UK, but they confuse a lot of people at the start.

The simple answer is yes, they are real and they do pay out. The reason they exist is because retailers pay them commission for sending customers, and they pass some of that commission back to you as cashback.

The two main sites in the UK are TopCashback and Quidco. In most comparisons, TopCashback tends to offer the highest rates more often, but it is always worth checking both before making a purchase. ()

You use them by clicking through their site before you buy something. That purchase gets tracked, and the cashback is added to your account. Over time this builds up and can be withdrawn.

The main thing people need to understand is that cashback is not instant. It can take weeks or even months to track and become payable. Some users report waiting several months for larger payouts, especially on things like insurance or broadband.

This delay is why some people think it is a scam, but in reality it is just how the tracking and validation process works.

If you use cashback sites properly and consistently, they can easily add up to £50 to £200+ per year without changing your spending habits.

Yeah I've been paid out by TopCashBack to both bank and paypal. No issues. I recommend it over Quidco. But its a matter of personal preference

You have to watch for ad blockers and vpns that might block tracking cookies. It also won't track if you buy via the apps. So Ebay App for example won't work. You have to do browser purchase.

Definitely do your research before buying. But yes its lucrative way to save money on stuff you would have bought. But there is no guarantee with cashback. Especially with insurance etc it can take months to process.

Pretty much where I landed after trying a few things. I keep a list of what I do to every fresh install so I can repeat it without thinking.

That is how I would approach it anyway.

The best savings rates are usually not advertised, you have to look.

Sorted it the same way. Turned out alright when I did it.

That tends to work on clean installs but real machines are messier. I always check temperatures and disk health first before anything else.

That is how I would approach it anyway.

Comparison sites are fine as a starting point but always check the terms direct.

QuoteThanks great post mate.

I have had mixed results with that approach. Worked for me at least.

I am not sure the surface reading is the most interesting one here. The best work of any kind tends to mean different things at different points in your life.

Curious what others make of it.

Most people have at least one subscription they forgot about that could go. ;)

I would wait for a bit more before concluding that. This feels like one of those topics where the longer term effect matters more than the daily noise.

That is my read on it anyway.

There is something true in that that is hard to articulate. I tend to notice the things that seem almost accidental but probably are not.

I find these conversations more useful than reading reviews.
