TipRanks put out a rundown of the quantum computing stocks analysts are favoring this month, and three names keep coming up with Strong Buy consensus ratings, Quantinuum, IonQ, and Microsoft

Quantinuum is getting attention for its full stack setup following the spinoff from Honeywell, giving investors exposure to a company that controls hardware and software rather than just one layer of the stack

IonQ remains the pure play favorite thanks to its trapped ion approach, which keeps quantum states stable for longer stretches, plus its wide cloud availability through Microsoft, Google, and other partners, IonQ has an average price target implying over 41 percent upside according to the article

Microsoft is the safer, more diversified way to get quantum exposure through Azure Quantum, combining software tools and quantum inspired algorithms that plug directly into the rest of the Azure and AI stack enterprises already use

None of this changes the fact that quantum computing as an industry is still mostly speculative revenue and roadmap promises, so treat any price target with the appropriate grain of salt

IonQ has been a rollercoaster stock for two years now, analysts loving it does not mean retail investors should not be careful with position sizing

Microsoft is the boring pick here in the best possible sense, you get quantum exposure without betting the farm on a single pure play company actually delivering

Quantinuum spinning out of Honeywell always felt like it was setting up for exactly this kind of investor attention, full stack control is a strong pitch
Just here for the craic :)

Anyone else notice how every one of these quantum stock roundup articles has a Strong Buy consensus, at some point you have to wonder how much of that is genuine conviction versus analysts just riding the hype wave

41 percent upside on IonQ sounds great until you remember analyst price targets on speculative tech have been wrong plenty of times before in both directions

Glenn84

I hold a small position in IonQ purely as a long shot bet, if quantum ever hits an inflection point the pure plays will move the most but I would never put serious money in until there is real commercial revenue
It's not a bug, it's a feature

The Azure Quantum integration angle for Microsoft is honestly underrated, enterprises already trust that ecosystem and will experiment with quantum through it without a second thought

BrightCanopy

Trapped ion versus superconducting qubits is still an unsettled architecture war and I do not think anyone should assume IonQ's approach is the long term winner just because it is stable right now

Would love to see an honest comparison of actual revenue numbers across these three instead of just price target upside percentages
