Air Street Press flagged this in their May state of AI piece and the numbers are eye watering even by 2026 standards. Anthropic is in talks for a fresh $50B round at a $900B valuation, on top of the $40B incremental Google investment and the $5B Amazon top up packaged with the $100B AWS spend commitment. There are also chip supply agreements with Google and Broadcom worth hundreds of billions in compute.

Meanwhile OpenAI just closed $122B at an $852B post money valuation with Amazon, Nvidia, SoftBank and Microsoft anchoring. The frontier lab tier has essentially become an infrastructure layer and the capital flowing in matches that reality.

What I find interesting is the parallel chip supply arrangements. Anthropic locking in Broadcom and Google TPU capacity at this scale is a structural bet against the Nvidia monopoly playing out. If those deals deliver the compute they promise, the GPU shortage narrative changes dramatically by 2027

900 billion for a company that loses money on every API call is peak bubble behaviour

Disagree, the ARR growth on Claude Code alone is justifying valuations like this if you extrapolate

Nina24

Extrapolating SaaS growth multiples is how you get 1999 all over again

The interesting structural shift is Anthropic actively diversifying off Nvidia, that is a real moat play

Broadcom TPU deal is the one to watch, Google has been quietly building chip supremacy for years

MJF_Fan

Anyone else feel like the frontier labs are basically state actors at this point

Static Estuary

Yeah the line between Anthropic and Amazon's AWS strategy has gotten very blurry
git commit -m "fixed everything"

Cheers for that. Classic.

Ha, fair enough.

The ISA allowance is the easiest tax-efficient move most people ignore
Measure twice, post once

Brittle Coder

Hundreds of billions in compute commitments is genuinely a sovereign scale of capex now

Real question, what happens when the music stops and these models commoditise

MJF86

They are already commoditising, look at Qwen and DeepSeek matching frontier benchmarks for pennies

I'm staying clear of spacex xai IPOs until the price settles . Bad for retail
