Pick-and-shovel stocks are the companies selling the tools, infrastructure, and services behind a technology boom. For AI and quantum, a starter list could include Nvidia (NVDA), Taiwan Semiconductor (TSM), Broadcom (AVGO), Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), ASML (ASML), Vertiv (VRT), Super Micro Computer (SMCI), Arista Networks (ANET), Digital Realty Trust (DLR), and Equinix (EQIX). These are not all the same type of business, but together they cover chips, chipmaking equipment, networking, servers, power, cooling, and data-centre capacity.
