Simple check-in. What phone are you using day to day, how long have you had it, and would you upgrade if something compelling arrived?

The phone market in 2026 has reached a point where the flagship experience is genuinely excellent and the differences between a two-year-old flagship and a new one are harder to justify than they used to be.

iPhone 15 Pro, eighteen months in, very happy. No compelling reason to upgrade until the Golden Gate hardware ships in September and even then it will depend on what the camera improvements actually are

Pixel 9, bought it because I wanted the clean Android experience and the camera is genuinely excellent

Using a phone from 2023 that still works perfectly well. The repairability story has improved enough that replacing the battery extended its useful life significantly

Samsung S25, primarily for the screen. The differentiation between Android flagships has almost disappeared

Deliberately using a mid-range phone to stay closer to the majority of the user experience. Useful perspective for the work I do
My team is always one signing away

Held onto the same device for three years and finally upgraded last month. The experience difference was real but not as dramatic as I expected. The software improvements matter more than the hardware at this point
