The catch is pricing. Google would need to decide whether the chip is a genuine value gift or an excuse to trim something less visible, such as the display, charging speed, storage, or camera hardware. A fast processor cannot rescue a phone that feels compromised everywhere else.

Leaks are fun, but the final review will need to answer the practical questions: how hot it gets, how long it lasts, how quickly it charges, and whether the camera actually benefits. 8)

There is a reasonable argument against this strategy: product segmentation exists for a reason. If the A-series gets too close to the flagship, Google may either raise the price or deliberately hold back useful features through software.

Neither outcome is ideal. Artificial restrictions annoy customers, while price increases undermine the whole point of a cheaper model.

A good compromise would be to share the processor and core software experience but reserve the flagship for better materials, display brightness, camera sensors, wireless charging, and long-term premium support.
