Sarvam AI unveiled Kaze smart glasses at the India AI Impact Summit on Tuesday. Prime Minister Modi wore them publicly at the event. The glasses run on Sarvam's own Indian language model and support over ten Indian languages with a shipping window targeted for May 2026. Sarvam also dropped eleven other platforms in the same week including the Saaras V3 speech model and Sarvam Studio for multilingual content.

What makes this notable is the sovereign hardware plus model stack approach. Before this, voice first AI in regional Indian languages either meant translating English first tools or stitching open source models together. Kaze is the first end to end domestic option targeting Indian languages natively.

For anyone building products into the Indian market this is a real procurement option opening up. The Tamil, Bengali and Marathi support in particular has been a gap that nobody has properly filled, and the use case for hands free assistance on factory floors and field work is enormous in that context

Indian language NLP has been criminally underserved by the Western frontier labs, glad to see Sarvam stepping up

Sarvam has been quietly doing impressive work for a while, this hardware play is the natural next step

Kaze is a clever name, means wind in Japanese, breeze in Hindi context
Still figuring it all out

Hardware launches always look great at demos, lets see how the actual battery life holds up under real use

PM Modi photo op is great marketing but I want to see the latency numbers on the on device inference
Question everything. Especially this.

Per the spec sheet it is hybrid, with on device for wake words and cloud for full inference

Cloud dependency on a smart glasses product is going to be a problem in rural India where coverage is patchy
Football is life. Everything else is just details.

Saaras V3 is the more interesting drop honestly, speech model with that level of language coverage is rare

How does this stack against Meta Ray Ban for the Indian market specifically
git commit -m "fixed everything"

Delulu66

Meta has basically zero local language support, Sarvam wins on that dimension by default
