Natura, the startup behind the HumanPods AI earbuds, has announced a $99 smart ring called Interface, TechCrunch reports. Pressing the ring summons an AI agent. Founder Carlo Edoardo Ferraris previously started Rolling Square, so he has some hardware history. The pitch is that AI should be one touch away at all times

At launch the ring works with several assistants, including Meta's Muse, Instinct, Grok Bot, Claude and ChatGPT. Users can assign different tasks to different agents. Replies come through connected headphones, an iPhone Live Activity or the NatureOS app. Example tasks include reordering shampoo, turning off a TV and sending meeting notes to a colleague

It is also a health tracking ring. It measures heart rate, heart rate variability, sleep stages, steps and skin temperature. Battery life is six to twelve days, and a full charge takes 100 minutes. That puts it in the same space as Oura and Samsung's Galaxy Ring, but with an AI twist

There is a subscription catch. After a free period of three to six months, Natura plans to charge $9 a month. It also intends to raise the $99 price eventually. Preorders are expected next month, with shipping in December or January

Ferraris thinks rings are the future of how we interact with technology. He said the ring is going to be the main interface between users and technology, and added that you can shower and sleep with it, so you never take it off. I like the idea of a quick tap rather than pulling out a phone. The $9 monthly fee will put some people off, though, and AI gadgets have had a rocky few years

Would you wear a ring to talk to AI? And are subscriptions on gadgets getting out of hand?
