Some early owners of Apple's first foldable iPhone are reporting cracked screens. MacRumors reports on complaints that the iPhone Duo's display is cracking along the hinge, in at least one case after fewer than 20 openings

The most detailed report comes from an owner in Australia, who said the crack appeared without any drop or obvious damage. Other users have shared similar photos online, although it is not yet clear how widespread the problem is

Apple has not commented on the reports. The phone carries the standard one year warranty, and buyers in many countries have a two week return window, which gives early adopters some protection

Foldable screens have a history of early problems. Samsung's first Galaxy Fold had to be delayed after review units broke, and later models gradually became more reliable. Apple waited years to enter the category partly to avoid exactly this kind of issue

It is too soon to call this a widespread defect, because early complaints are always loud and some damage may have other causes. Still, a crease crack after a handful of folds is a worrying sign. Apple will need to respond quickly if more reports appear

Would you buy a first generation foldable iPhone? And how should Apple handle this if it turns out to be widespread?
