Apple released the iOS Golden Gate developer beta on 8 June with the public beta expected in July and full consumer release in September alongside new iPhone hardware. The highlights include a refined Liquid Glass design with a new opacity slider, rebuilt Spotlight that indexes new data almost immediately, and integrated Apple Intelligence features for M1 and later devices.

For anyone on the developer beta: what is the daily use experience like, what is working well, and what is rough around the edges?

On the developer beta since day two. Liquid Glass is striking on first launch and then recedes into the background once you are used to it. The opacity slider is more useful than it sounds

The new Spotlight indexing speed is the feature I use most and it is noticeably faster. The difference between near-instant results and waiting a beat is larger than I expected in daily use

Battery life on the beta is predictably worse than the release version. Waiting for the public beta before forming a view on anything performance-related

Apple Intelligence integration is smooth where it works and invisible where the device does not support it. The feature gap between supported and unsupported hardware is more apparent with each release
