Notifications seem small, but they have a bigger impact than people expect. Every ping, vibration, or badge pulls your attention away, even if you do not open it straight away.

Your brain treats notifications like something that might need action. That keeps part of your attention tied up, even when you are trying to focus on something else. Over time, this creates a constant low level of distraction.

You might think you are good at multitasking, but in reality you are just switching attention more often. That comes with a cost. Tasks take longer, focus feels harder, and you end up mentally tired faster.

Most notifications are not urgent. They are just designed to bring you back into an app.

Turning them off or limiting them is one of the fastest ways to reduce that background noise. The difference is noticeable almost immediately.

So ask yourself.
How many notifications do you actually need, and how many are just pulling your attention for no reason?

Totally

Probably 90 percent of mine are pointless
Have you tried turning it off and on again?

QuoteHard to ignore them once you see them

Makes sense to me. That lines up with what I found.

Fair point, I would not argue against it. The best sides find ways to win ugly and that matters more than the style of play.

Ask me again in six weeks. ;)
It's not a bug, it's a feature

Yes, and there is more to it too. The interesting part of this conversation is how differently people are reading it.

Glad this came up
