Google's Pixel 11 lineup is here, with a new Tensor G6 chip and a redesigned camera bar called Pixel Glow

Google's annual Made by Google event took place on August 12, officially unveiling the Pixel 11 lineup, four devices in total spanning the standard Pixel 11, the Pixel 11 Pro, the Pixel 11 Pro XL, and the Pixel 11 Pro Fold. All four phones run on Google's new Tensor G6 chip, built on a 2 nanometer process, alongside the newest version of Android and the expected further integration of Gemini across the operating system.

The most visible design change is what Google is calling Pixel Glow, a refreshed version of the signature horizontal camera bar that's defined the Pixel look since the line's earlier generations, now featuring background lighting built directly into the design. The foldable model reportedly received a meaningful camera upgrade as well, an area where the Pixel Fold lineup has historically lagged behind the more polished camera systems on Google's standard flagship phones. Preorders opened immediately following the announcement, with devices shipping starting August 20.

Not every change was purely positive from a consumer standpoint. Each model in the new lineup reportedly costs 100 dollars more than its direct predecessor, continuing a broader industry pattern of rising flagship phone prices tied partly to increased component costs, memory and storage pricing pressures affecting the entire industry this year, and the deeper AI capability Google keeps building directly into each new generation. The accompanying Pixel Watch 5 saw a comparatively quieter update cycle, described by early coverage as largely unchanged from last year's Pixel Watch 4 in most meaningful respects.

Google traditionally launches its Pixel lineup in August, well ahead of Apple's typical September iPhone announcement, giving it a deliberate head start in the news cycle before Apple's own event, this year rumored to include Apple's first foldable iPhone, draws attention back toward Cupertino. Whether that timing advantage actually translates into meaningfully higher sales for Google specifically remains an open question, but it does guarantee the Pixel lineup gets a clean, uncontested week of dedicated tech press coverage before the iPhone conversation inevitably takes over most of the industry's attention again
