Details of Google's next fitness tracker, the Fitbit Edge, have leaked via Android Headlines, Engadget reports. It would sit between the screenless Fitbit Air and the Pixel Watch 5. Engadget writes: "It could be a replacement for the Fitbit Charge last seen in 2023, as it's equipped with a similar small screen and expected to have features like a GPS and notifications." Fans of the Charge have been waiting a long time for a successor

According to the leak, the Edge "could offer a seven-day battery life, altimeter and limited support for apps like Google Maps," along with YouTube Music. Engadget describes it as potentially "a more powerful Fitbit Air or a Pixel Watch 5 'lite,' but one that runs on iOS as well as Android." iPhone support matters, since the Pixel Watch only works with Android phones

On design, it could come in colours seen on the Pixel 11 phones, such as Rose Peach and Olive. Google has not confirmed the device, but it is expected "in time for the holiday 2026 season." There is no official price yet. Engadget guesses 150 to 200 dollars, saying it could cost a little more than the older Charge, which sold for between 129 and 179 dollars

Simple fitness bands with small screens have been squeezed in recent years between cheap trackers and full smartwatches. But plenty of people prefer a slim band with long battery life to a watch that needs charging every day or two. If Google gets the price right, the Edge could be popular. Given the Pixel 10a price rise last week, though, nobody should expect a bargain

Do you prefer a simple fitness band or a full smartwatch? And would a Fitbit Edge tempt you if it worked with an iPhone?
