EE has become the first UK carrier to announce pricing for iPhone Handoff. 9to5Mac's Michael Burkhardt reports that the details came alongside pre-orders for the new iPhone Duo. The feature lets one eSIM and phone number move between several iPhones

With Handoff, calls, messages and notifications follow you to whichever iPhone you are using. Apple announced it at its September event, naming T-Mobile, Verizon, EE and Deutsche Telekom as launch carriers. It is aimed at people who use more than one iPhone, such as a main phone and a smaller one for going out

On EE, Handoff will be free with the Full Works Plus plan, which also includes the network's Fast Lane priority feature. On other plans it costs 5 pounds a month on a rolling contract. The feature is listed as coming soon, with Apple saying it will arrive before the end of 2026

Pricing in the US is similar. T-Mobile charges 5 dollars a month, while Verizon charges 10 dollars. Some people will see that as reasonable for the convenience, while others will question paying extra for what is mostly a software feature

It is a neat idea, especially with the iPhone Duo encouraging people to own two phones. But charging monthly for it feels like carriers finding a new way to add fees. It will be interesting to see how many people sign up

Would you pay 5 pounds a month for iPhone Handoff? And do many people need more than one iPhone?
