Anyone bought a dehumidifier for a UK home that actually made a difference

UK houses seem permanently engaged in low level warfare against moisture for about eight months of the year

I used to think dehumidifiers were mainly for extreme situations until I realised half the condensation in my windows apparently qualifies as indoor weather
