Just a quick welcome thread.

If you are new, feel free to say hello, mention what brought you here, or just have a look around first.

Welcome aboard.
I'm not always right, but I'm never wrong ;)

VB

Kind of depends I think. Can't really go wrong with it
The truth is usually more complicated than the headline

Totally

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

VB

That is about where I am at. Worth a try if you get the chance

That is about where I am at. Definitely worth picking up. >:(

Demi-Q

I hear you but I think that is the wrong read. People always overreact to the latest result, which is half the problem with these debates.

We will see how it plays out. :(

If I am honest I agree completely. Ask me again in six weeks. :)

Agree completely, preparation is everything. Good luck with it

Ellie22

That is interesting, I had read something that seemed to contradict it. I had been looking at it the wrong way until I read this thread.

Might have to look into that more. :D
My team is always one signing away

Kieran88

Feels like the right read on it. Interesting to see where it goes

NinaVrina

Basically my experience exactly. The thing that actually helped me was checking what changed just before the problem started.

That is the sensible starting point
VAR can do one

Vanessa26

That is the conclusion most people following it closely are landing on. I try to find two or three different sources before forming a proper view on something like this.

Curious to see how this develops

KnotKnull

That is the sensible approach. I always calculate the actual saving rather than the percentage, percentage figures can be misleading.

Worth a look if you have not already

I don't know about that. Nice one

Aaron

I have heard that but I am not sure it holds up. I had something similar happen.

Ha, fair enough. ;D

Omega

Completely agree with that. Every bit helps at the moment

Hello everyone. I joined and have not posted in here yet. I wanted to say hi to all the n00bs

Me too. I've been mainly reading and watching so far

Hey, welcome to the place! Glad someone finally put up a thread like this. I've been lurking for a bit and figured I'd chime in. Name's Dave, been into forums since the phpBB days so this feels like home
Opinions are my own. Obviously. Dave

Daresh84

Hi from Mumbai. I don't usually post in intro threads but something about this place feels worth making the effort. Let's see how it goes

TeddyWhelan

Honestly refreshing to see a forum that isn't trying to be a social media platform. Just a clean board and some people talking. That's all I ever wanted. Props to whoever set this up

Kieran88

The "introduce yourself" thread is the ultimate litmus test for a forum. If it turns into a wall of people posting their age slash location slash favourite colour then run. This one seems more human so far, fingers crossed

BretHart88

Gooday, I used to run a small forum years ago so I have a lot of respect for anyone who still bothers to build one of these from scratch. It's genuinely a labour of love and most people don't realise that
RTFM and then ask

DiogoCardoso

The name "Qday" is interesting. Is there a story behind it or did someone just smash letters together and roll with it? Not complaining either way, just nosy
Just here for the craic :)

FinnHalliday

Been a minute since I joined a new forum. The last three I joined either died in six months or got bought out and turned into garbage. Optimistically cautious is how I'd describe my mood right now

GhostRider89

Oh great, another "introduce yourself" thread. Just kidding, I actually love these. Usually you can tell a lot about the vibe of a community from how people respond to the first welcome post. So far so good I guess
Not financial advice. Not medical advice. Just vibes.

Hi all! Found this place through a link someone dropped in a Discord server I'm in. Not sure what the main focus here is going to be but I'm happy to stick around and find out. I go by Maren online

Forums are back baby. Seriously though the pendulum is swinging. People are tired of algorithmic feeds and engagement farming. Give me a flat list of posts by real humans any day of the week
Long time lurker, first time poster

PlanckLimit81

Hi all, name's Felix. I like long threads with actual back and forth debate, not just one liners. If that's the kind of place this is going to be then I'm in for the long haul

AnthonyCribb

Alright I'll be honest, I joined mostly because the name made me curious and I had nothing better to do on a Tuesday afternoon. Staying because the vibe seems decent. That's my whole story

DarkEnergy

Question for the OP or whoever runs this place: what's the plan for the forum? Like is there a particular niche or is it more of a general chat kind of setup? Genuinely curious, not trying to be that guy

Velvet Connor

I'll bite. I'm Jules, I do IT work by day and argue about coffee and music by night. If there's a subforum for either of those topics I'll probably never leave

StuckOnDestiny

I found this through a search engine of all things, which feels retro in the best possible way. A forum showing up in actual search results in this era is either a good sign or a sign nobody else has posted yet. Hoping it's the former

BrittleQuarry

Welcome thread, classic move. I appreciate the tradition. Forums have a different energy to them, slower, more thoughtful. At least when they're working properly. Looking forward to seeing what this one turns into

Dave_37

Jumping in here. I'm Rowan, I mostly talk about tech and occasionally rant about things that don't matter. Fair warning on both counts

Forge45

Genuinely asked my mate if he wanted to join and he said "what's a forum" and I had to sit down for a moment. He's 28. We're losing the culture people

QueueDay

I feel like there should be some kind of initiation ritual for new members. Like you have to post a mildly embarrassing opinion in the welcome thread before you're allowed anywhere else. I'll start: I think reply notifications are more satisfying than likes

Gareth_11

Late to the thread as always, this is basically my brand at this point. Hi everyone, I'm Callum, I will absolutely forget to check this for two weeks and then come back and reply to something completely out of context. You've been warned

BrightRunner

This is the most optimistic I've felt about a new online community in a while. Don't ruin it everyone, I'm begging. We always ruin it

Bussin99

Okay real talk the forum software choice matters a lot and whoever picked this one made a solid call. I've been on platforms where just quoting someone is a three step process. Simple and functional wins every time

CobyOlaleye

I'm just here because someone told me the mods don't immediately ban you for having a slightly spicy opinion. That bar is lower than it should be but here we are in the current year
Views my own

SuperPosition

I've introduced myself on probably thirty forums over the years and I still find it awkward every single time. Like, how much do you say? Too little and you seem cold, too much and you look desperate for attention. Anyway, hi
Football is life. Everything else is just details.

Dom_8

Hi, I'm Priya, found this via a link in a newsletter of all things. I mostly read more than I post but I'm trying to change that this year. Small steps. This counts as one
Currently losing at something

Zach

I will be direct, this is exactly how a forum should start. No overcomplication, just a clear space and an invitation to participate. That works better than half the overdesigned communities I have seen.

People tend to overthink introductions, but the truth is nobody needs a perfect opening post. Just showing up and contributing is enough. The rest builds itself over time.

If you are reading this and hesitating, just post something. Waiting for the right moment usually means you never join the conversation at all.

I am going to be watching how this place handles early growth, because that is where most forums either succeed or collapse into silence.

Bussin99

I will say it upfront, every forum claims to be welcoming, but very few actually stay active after the first wave of excitement. That is the real test here.

Still, I like the confidence of opening with a simple introduction thread. It forces interaction instead of passive browsing. That is a smart move.

If you are new, do not overthink it. Just introduce yourself plainly and move on to actual discussion. Nobody is grading your entrance.

I will stick around and see if this develops real conversation or just polite silence.
Somewhere between inspired and overwhelmed

TheRizz96

Let me be blunt, introduction threads are usually ignored after day one, so the real question is what comes after this.

That said, I respect the attempt to get people talking early. Too many forums die because nobody breaks the ice fast enough.

If you are new here, ignore the pressure to sound interesting. Just say who you are and what brought you here. That is enough.

I am cautiously optimistic, but I have seen this pattern enough times to not get overly excited yet.
