This is a tricky one because a relaxing hobby is different for everyone. A £100 watercolour set might be someone's perfect evening while someone else would rather spend that money on a decent coffee machine and become a home cafe expert

For me, I would probably upgrade my cooking setup. A good knife, better pans and some proper ingredients can turn making dinner from a chore into something I actually look forward to.

A comfy reading chair would be high on the list. Not the fancy gaming chair type, just something where you can sit with a book, a drink and completely disappear for an hour.

People underestimate how much a good environment changes a hobby. A cheap lamp and a nice corner can make reading feel like a proper activity rather than just scrolling on a phone.

Gardening would tempt me. Even a few pots on a balcony can become a surprisingly addictive little project. One minute you are growing herbs, the next you are checking tomato plants like they are family members

The only downside is that plants have a talent for making you feel guilty when you forget about them.

A decent coffee grinder is probably the rabbit hole I would fall into. Started with a simple coffee machine and suddenly people are talking about grind size, water temperature and beans from specific regions. It gets serious very quickly.

Still cheaper than some hobbies though. Have seen people spend more on miniature trains than actual transport.

Would probably buy musical equipment. Not because I think I would become a famous guitarist, but because learning something new keeps your brain busy.

The danger is ending up with five instruments collecting dust while telling yourself you are "just getting started". A classic hobby trap

For me it would be photography gear. A good camera is not even necessary now, but a better lens or lighting setup can make taking photos around the house and garden much more enjoyable.

The expensive part is discovering that the camera was not the problem. The person behind it was

A proper home gym corner would be my choice. Nothing extreme, just some weights, a mat and enough space to move around.

Although knowing myself, I would spend two weeks researching equipment and one week actually using it. The internet has created too many opportunities to become an expert before starting.

Could see the appeal of replacing a hobby with experiences instead. A weekend away, a concert ticket or a cooking class might create memories rather than just adding more stuff to the house.

Not everything relaxing needs to live in a cupboard afterwards.
