Life has a habit of quietly squeezing out hobbies that once mattered a lot, a busy new job, moving house, having children, or simply drifting away from something without any single dramatic decision to actually stop, and years later plenty of people find themselves thinking wistfully about a hobby they used to genuinely love and never actually meant to abandon completely, even if picking it back up now feels oddly daunting after such a long break.

Sometimes the barrier to returning is purely practical, lost equipment, rusty skills, or simply not having carved out the time, and sometimes it is something a bit more psychological, a quiet worry that returning to something after years away will only highlight how much skill has actually been lost in the meantime. Piano, gave it up as a teenager and still think about getting back into it regularly. Mostly just the fear of how rusty I have become is what keeps stopping me.
