SpaceX closed its first day of trading on Nasdaq up roughly 25 percent from its 135 dollar IPO price, giving the company a market valuation north of 2 trillion dollars and putting Elon Musk into territory that makes him the world's first confirmed trillionaire. More importantly for the rest of the AI industry, it validated the infrastructure valuation thesis that every other tech listing in the second half of 2026 is going to depend on. Anthropic filed a confidential S-1 with the SEC on 1 June at an estimated valuation of 965 billion dollars. OpenAI filed on 8 June and announced it proactively rather than waiting for the leak, posting on its website that they expected it to surface and were just announcing it themselves. The combined valuation of SpaceX, Anthropic and OpenAI in the pipeline is approximately 3.6 trillion dollars, which is larger than the GDP of France.

The Anthropic story has some interesting wrinkles. The Ramp AI Index for May 2026, tracking spending patterns across 50,000 US businesses, shows Anthropic overtaking OpenAI in business adoption for the first time. Claude's share rose 3.8 percentage points to 34.4 percent while OpenAI's fell 2.9 points to 32.3 percent. Anthropic is also projecting break-even by 2028, two years ahead of OpenAI's 2030 profitability target, and derives roughly 80 percent of revenue from enterprise customers against OpenAI's 40 percent. Against all of that sits the Fable and Mythos shutdown this week, which raises real questions about regulatory risk for any investor doing due diligence on an Anthropic listing.

What do you think the Anthropic IPO means for the AI industry long term, and does the Fable shutdown affect how you would value the company?

The Ramp AI Index numbers are more significant than they look. Business spending data is not sentiment, it is actual dollar flows. Anthropic passing OpenAI in enterprise adoption right before its IPO is a very convenient data point
