Solo hobbies versus group hobbies, which do you actually prefer and why

[Zach91]

I'm firmly a solo hobby person, reading, running, painting, genuinely need that alone time to actually recharge rather than another social obligation layered on top of an already full week

Curious how people actually land on this, and whether it's changed at all for you over different periods of your life or stayed pretty consistent

[Vacant Niamh]

Group hobbies every time for me, I need the social accountability or I never follow through on anything consistently by myself

[Hollow Pete]

Started as a group person, gradually shifted toward solo hobbies as I got older and my social battery just got smaller over the years

Genuinely depends entirely on the specific hobby for me, running alone, but cooking always feels better with someone else in the kitchen

[RomanReigns96]

Solo, no contest, my job is already so social that hobbies need to be my actual quiet recharge time away from other people

[TheRizz00]

Group hobbies became way more important to me after moving to a new city, made genuine friends through a hobby I'd normally have done completely alone

[Hannah56]

I actually switch depending on my mood entirely, some weeks I crave the social version, other weeks I actively want nobody around me at all

[SpikeDudley88]

Solo hobbies mostly, but I make a clear exception for board games specifically, something about that one activity feels better shared than done alone
