Old school PC building thread, what was your first self built rig

Before prebuilt PCs became so common and capable, a lot of us cobbled together our first machine from mismatched parts, hand me downs, and whatever a friend's older sibling didn't want anymore. What was your first ever self built or self upgraded computer, and did it actually work first try

Built mine from parts scavenged out of three different dead computers, somehow it booted and I still don't fully understand why

First build had a graphics card held in with a literal rubber band because the slot was slightly bent, ran for two years like that
