The mini PC category matured significantly. Intel NUC successors AMD mini systems Framework's modular approach and the various Chinese manufacturers producing capable small form factor machines have created a genuine alternative to traditional tower builds. For most users a mini PC now offers sufficient performance for everyday computing content creation and even light gaming at dramatically reduced space and energy consumption. The traditional tower still wins for high-end gaming heat management and expandability. But the gap has narrowed considerably. Is the bulk of a full tower justified for what most people actually do with a computer in 2026?

Expandability is still the tower's killer feature. Adding storage upgrading GPU or RAM is straightforward in ways mini PCs can't match
