Every era of PC building eventually gets judged by hindsight, some specs age gracefully into genuine bargains, others become a punchline the moment the next big leap actually arrives

Ten years from now, imagine dusting off today's exact build. Does it still hold up reasonably well for basic tasks, or does it look like ancient, laughably limited hardware compared to whatever's standard by then

Curious what people think ages worst specifically, storage, RAM, GPU, or something else entirely

RAM ages worst probably, given how fast requirements keep climbing across basically every category of software

Depends entirely on what you're actually using it for, a build that ages badly for gaming might age fine for basic tasks

Storage actually holds up longest in my experience, capacity needs plateau faster than raw compute needs do

Honestly the case and cooling setup probably outlasts everything else inside it by a wide margin
My team is always one signing away

My current build already feels dated compared to stuff releasing this year, ten years feels almost unthinkable

GPUs age worst by far, that's the component that gets outpaced hardest by each new generation of games
