Something I have been researching and wanted a sanity check on.

Real answers from people here are usually more useful than search results.

I have done the obvious searches and got the usual recycled answers so thought I would ask here instead. :-[

What has your experience been?

QuantumKnight

Been reading the same thing from a few different angles. Curious to see how this develops

Basically my experience exactly. Task Manager tells you most of what you need to know if you know which columns to look at.

Happy to help further if you get stuck

That is about where I am at. Would recommend giving it a go

Yeah that is about right. Cheers for sharing. :D

VB

Pretty decent summary of it. Worth a try if you get the chance. :)

I would push back on that hard. Time will tell on this one

No real argument from me on that. Management makes as much difference as the players at this level.

The result will answer the question better than any of us can. :D

The initial reporting on this was all over the place. Curious to see how this develops
Still figuring it all out

I tried that and the catch was not obvious until afterwards. Cheers for sharing that

StoneCold

That is the obvious answer but not always the right one. The thing that actually helped me was checking what changed just before the problem started.

Worked for me at least

Hollow85

That is the sensible route. Take your time with it and it will come out well

QuoteMakes sense. Could not agree more. Cheers. 8)

That is a popular opinion but I think it is wrong. Experience in big games counts for a huge amount and younger squads often find that out the hard way.

Cannot wait for the game to settle it

Completely agree, and it is frustrating that this is not more widely known. That is the sensible starting point

I tried that and the catch was not obvious until afterwards. The best deals are usually the ones that do not get advertised loudly.

Worth a look if you have not already. ;D

I loved the idea of mini ITX more than the reality. Building it was fun for about 3 hours, then I started questioning my life choices while trying to plug in the front panel headers.

It does look amazing on a desk though, like a little tech sculpture

Coder65

For me it was absolutely worth it because I move house a lot. Having a compact system I can just grab and go is a huge advantage.

I will never go back to a massive tower unless I suddenly win the lottery and decide I need a server rack in my living room
Normal is overrated

Warden

I went mini ITX and regretted it slightly, not because of performance but because upgrade flexibility is basically gone. Everything is so tight that swapping parts feels like surgery.

If you are the type who likes to tinker often, I would say think twice before committing

Hannah56

Cooling is the part nobody talks about enough. You can have the best CPU and GPU but if airflow is bad in a mini ITX case, you are basically building a toaster.

I learned that the hard way with my first build

Wandering Matt

Cable management in mini ITX is either a satisfying puzzle or pure chaos depending on your patience level.

Mine started as a neat build and slowly turned into "as long as it closes, I am happy" territory

IronFist38

I think mini ITX makes the most sense for mid range builds rather than high end monsters. Once you start pushing top tier GPUs, thermals and space become a real headache.

Still, I respect anyone who manages a quiet and powerful ITX setup because it takes planning

ProperJobs89

I previously built a mini ITX system about 6 months ago and honestly the size was absolutely worth it for me. Having a full gaming capable PC that basically disappears on my desk is still kind of amazing.

That said, the build process was way more fiddly than a standard ATX case. Cable management in tight spaces is a whole different sport

alwaysPatrick19

Mine ended up being a hybrid compromise. Small case, but not the absolute tiniest ITX form factor. That extra 2 or 3 liters makes a surprising difference for airflow and sanity.

I think people underestimate how much thermal management changes when you shrink everything down

NorthernKernel

I went full ITX because I wanted a clean desk setup and no regrets there. It just looks so much more modern than a giant tower under the desk.

But I will admit I miss having room to just add drives and cards without thinking about space constraints
GG no re

CobyOlaleye

Would I do it again? Yes, but only with careful part selection from the start. The planning stage matters way more than with bigger cases.

If you rush it, you end up with regrets and a case that looks like it is fighting for its life
Views my own

Western Depot

I think people overhype the difficulty a bit. Yes it's tighter, but if you plan your parts properly it is not that bad.

The real issue is when people try to reuse random old components and expect them to magically fit in a tiny case
Currently losing at something

CosmicRay67

Honestly the price premium on mini ITX parts is what annoyed me more than the size. Smaller motherboard, smaller case, somehow still more expensive.

Feels like you are paying extra for the privilege of less room to work with
Still figuring it all out
