Hosting a group of ten to fifteen people at home for the big World Cup games. I have a reasonable TV already but I am thinking about what else makes the difference between a good watch party and a great one. Looking for practical suggestions from people who have done this before rather than aspirational entertaining advice.

The screen size to room size ratio is the thing most people get wrong. Ten to fifteen people need to be able to see the ball from every seat. If your current TV is under 55 inch consider hiring or borrowing a projector and a white wall or sheet. A 100 inch projected image from a decent budget projector is transformative and hirable for around £50 for a weekend

Sound is as important as picture for atmosphere. The crowd noise is half the experience. If you have a soundbar turn it up. If you do not, even a Bluetooth speaker pointed at the room adds meaningfully to the ambient atmosphere that built-in TV speakers cannot produce at a social volume level

The practical logistics matter more than any equipment: enough seating for everyone to actually sit down and see the screen, somewhere to put drinks that is not in the sightlines of people watching, and a toilet break plan for halftime because fifteen people queuing for one bathroom at the same time is the thing that disrupts the atmosphere
