What is a genuinely underreported story you think deserves way more attention?

The news cycle has a well known tendency to fixate heavily on a small handful of dominant stories at any given time, often at the expense of other genuinely important developments happening simultaneously that receive comparatively little coverage, whether that is an ongoing humanitarian crisis overshadowed by a bigger breaking story, a slow moving policy change with major long term consequences that never generates a dramatic enough headline, or a local issue that never manages to break through to a wider national audience at all.

What counts as underreported obviously varies enormously depending on someone's own interests and the specific media they actually consume, but plenty of people can point to at least one story they genuinely think deserves far more attention than it currently gets.
