Anyone else get one of these?

Got one on my phone Tuesday morning, dry weather warning for the local moorland area. Fairly standard this time of year given how little rain we've had, the ground's basically kindling at the moment

Worth taking them seriously though, a few of the grass fires last summer spread a lot faster than people expected. If you're near open countryside it's worth actually reading past the headline rather than just dismissing it as another alert.

I did get it, and the timing was good because I was about to head out. Changed my route and avoided the affected area. That is probably the best use of these alerts for me: a quick warning that changes what you do immediately, rather than something you have to keep monitoring all day.

Same here. The first thing I did was check the message details and then look at the local fire service information rather than trying to work out what was happening from social media. Much easier to separate useful information from twenty people posting blurry photos and guessing what caused it.

Yep. At first I thought it was one of those test alerts because of how distinctive the sound was, but then I read the message properly. Definitely worth reading the actual instructions rather than dismissing it as another phone notification.

Got it as well. The useful part is that it gives you something actionable rather than just being a general news notification. If there is a fire close enough to affect you, knowing whether to stay indoors, close windows, or avoid an area is worth the interruption.

Nothing here, although that may depend on exactly where you are and what the alert was for. These things can be very local, so someone a few miles away might get one while another person gets nothing.

My phone choosing the loudest possible noise for it was the real surprise. Pretty sure half the street checked their windows at the same time.

Didn't get one myself but my sister did up in Yorkshire, said it was a proper wildfire risk warning rather than just a general nuisance ping. Seems to be regional depending on how dry the ground is where you are.

Worth checking the Met Office site directly if you're unsure whether it applies to you, the alerts sometimes go out a bit broader than the actual affected area.

Yep, got one. Mine came through with that loud alert noise, which was a bit of a shock when the phone was sitting quietly on the desk. Took me a second to realise what it was.

Still, I would rather get an alert for a genuine fire than find out afterwards that there had been one nearby.
