Moved away from my hometown for a decade and honestly the place I moved to genuinely won on almost every practical measure, weather, job opportunities, cost of living, all of it. Still visit and enjoy my hometown but calling it objectively the best would genuinely be pure nostalgia talking at this point. Familiarity and quality aren't always the same thing

Lived in three genuinely different cities as an adult and honestly my hometown still wins for me, purely because of the actual people and relationships built there over an entire childhood rather than anything about the physical place itself. Community specifically mattered more than infrastructure or climate in my personal ranking. Different criteria lead to genuinely different honest answers here

My hometown was honestly a genuinely rough place to grow up, so calling it the best anywhere would be a flat out lie regardless of any nostalgia. Every single place I've lived since has actually been a genuine improvement by nearly every measure. Familiarity clearly doesn't automatically equal quality in my particular case

Hometown wins for me but for a genuinely unexpected reason, the specific quality of light at a certain time of year there that I've never quite found replicated anywhere else I've actually lived since.
