Trust in traditional news media has declined significantly over recent years, with widespread accusations of bias, sensationalism and outright misinformation coming from essentially every direction of the political spectrum, leaving a lot of people genuinely unsure how to actually decide which sources deserve their trust rather than simply picking whichever outlet happens to already align with their own existing views.

Some people rely heavily on a small handful of outlets they have trusted for years, others deliberately consume a spread of sources across the political spectrum specifically to try to triangulate something closer to the actual truth, and others lean more on independent fact checking sites or cross referencing multiple reports before actually accepting a specific claim as reliable. What is your own personal method for deciding which news sources you actually trust, and has your approach changed at all in recent years?
