I keep swinging between two bad states. Either I follow everything and feel a low hum of dread all day, or I go cold turkey and end up genuinely uninformed about things that affect me. Neither feels like a sensible adult approach

The 24 hour cycle is designed to make everything feel urgent, when in reality most stories change very little between morning and evening. I suspect the answer is deliberately slowing down, but a weekly digest feels irresponsible when big things move fast

How do you actually manage this? Specific routines welcome, not just vibes. I want to know what you read, when, and how you decided what to cut
Works on my machine :D

One long form weekly review plus headlines once a day at lunch, never in the morning and never before bed. Took a year to find the balance
Opinions are my own. Obviously.

Why never in the morning? I would have guessed morning was the natural slot

Starting the day with dread sets the tone for everything after, lunch means the day has already got moving

I gave up broadcast entirely and just read the front pages of three papers across the political spectrum online. Triangulation beats trust
Opinions are my own. Obviously.

Three papers a day sounds like more drowning, not less, if I am honest

Radio bulletins on the hour, five minutes, done. Old fashioned but it has natural limits built in

Does anyone else feel guilty stepping back, like being informed is a duty? Or is that just the apps talking
It's not a bug, it's a feature

Stuart78

It is partly the apps talking. Being usefully informed and being constantly updated are different things and only one is a duty
