Cannot really disagree with that. The price matters more than it used to, I am much more selective about what I buy full price.

Ended up in the same place, yeah. The materials are usually a smaller cost than the tools you need to work with them.

That is the approach I always take now. I find the YouTube tutorials are better than any written guide for the tricky bits.
