More job cuts are coming at Xbox. Push Square's Sammy Barker reports on the Fortune profile of Asha Sharma, which says she has cut 1,868 Xbox jobs so far out of 3,200 planned. Further rounds are reportedly scheduled for this month, November and January

The structure of Xbox is changing too. Halo is now overseen by Activision, and Obsidian sits under Bethesda. Push Square goes as far as predicting that Xbox Game Studios will not exist this time next year

Fortune reports that current and former staff believe Xbox is being prepared for a sale, spin off, outside investment or conversion into a subsidiary. Sharma reportedly gave a presentation on those options soon after taking over, although Microsoft has publicly said otherwise. The article also estimates that Gears of War: E-Day has sold around 311,000 copies

Separately, GameSpot reports that The Information says several private equity firms looked at buying Xbox and were willing to pay up to 150 billion dollars, valuing the division at least 100 billion. Sharma has previously said that Xbox is not for sale

Whatever happens, it is a painful time for people working at Xbox. Thousands of jobs gone and more to come is a heavy toll. Fans will be watching nervously to see what it means for the games and studios they love

Is Xbox being prepared for a sale? And what would it mean for Game Pass and Xbox's studios?

Halo under Activision would have been unthinkable a few years ago. The whole structure is being rebuilt. Something big is clearly happening
