Xbox is asking some Xbox Insiders how they would react if Fallout, The Elder Scrolls or Minecraft became exclusive to Xbox and PC. Push Square's Sammy Barker reports on the story, which comes from Windows Central, with survey images checked by reporter Jez Corden. It is a survey rather than an announcement, so nothing has been decided

The surveys name PlayStation and Nintendo directly. They ask whether an exclusive move would make people upgrade their Xbox, switch to PC or skip the games altogether. One option covers all Microsoft owned content except Call of Duty, which must stay on PS5 for several more years under regulatory commitments made during the Activision deal

One Minecraft scenario says existing versions would no longer be sold on PlayStation or Nintendo and would get no new content, though games people already own would not be affected. Taking Minecraft away from other platforms would be an enormous change, given how many children play it on every device

The report comes as Xbox, under new chief executive Asha Sharma, has started bringing some games back to its own platforms, starting with Gears of War: E-Day. Barker doubts that feedback from Xbox Insiders is representative of all players, and argues that exclusivity would weaken those brands rather than strengthen them

Companies survey players about all sorts of ideas that never happen, so this should be treated as a sign of internal discussion rather than a plan. Still, it is interesting to see Xbox seriously considering a return to exclusives after years of moving the other way

Should Microsoft make any of these games exclusive? And would it change which console you buy?
