Pure Xbox has the early rundown of whats coming to Game Pass in August 2026 and while the list is still small it already looks like a genuinely strong month

The two big anchors so far are Beast of Reincarnation, Game Freaks brand new action RPG that mixes real time and turn based combat around a one person one dog setup in a pretty harsh looking world, and Resonance A Plague Tale Legacy, the prequel that digs into Sophias backstory before the events of the earlier games

Its worth remembering this list is very much a first wave, Microsoft usually rolls out August announcements in batches over the following weeks so we should expect a fair few more titles to get added as the month goes on, plus another round of departures to be confirmed as some games leave the service

Coming right off the back of a stacked July that included Halo Campaign Evolved landing on the 28th, this is shaping up to be one of those stretches where Game Pass is genuinely earning its subscription price rather than just coasting on back catalog filler

For anyone who loved the first two Plague Tale games this prequel seems like an easy recommendation, and Beast of Reincarnation is the wildcard everyone seems curious about given how unusual the one person one dog premise sounds on paper

Curious what everyone else is most looking forward to out of this early list, and whether anyone thinks Beast of Reincarnation can live up to the hype Game Freak is generating around it

Resonance being a prequel to A Plague Tale is such a smart move honestly, exploring Sophias past gives them a whole new angle without having to top the emotional gut punch of Requiems ending

The one person one dog action RPG premise for Beast of Reincarnation sounds gimmicky on paper but Game Freak has surprised people before so Im cautiously optimistic
It's only banter... mostly

Feels like Game Pass keeps having these months where the list starts small and then explodes with announcements over the following weeks, this is probably just the tip of the iceberg for August
Making the internet slightly better one post at a time

Coming right after Halo Campaign Evolved in July this is a genuinely great back to back stretch for subscribers, cant remember the last time two months in a row felt this stacked

Kind of impressive how much variety Game Pass manages every single month between action RPGs, horror, farming sims and everything in between, keeps the service feeling fresh

The departures side of this is what I always dread a bit, hope we dont lose anything too painful this time around since the additions list is looking solid
Never pay full price. Never.

Anyone know if these day one Game Pass additions come with any day one performance issues on console like some recent launches have had

Real time and turn based combat fusion is a hard thing to pull off well, most games that try it end up feeling like neither system gets enough depth, hoping Beast of Reincarnation proves me wrong

Beast of Reincarnation is definitely the one Im most curious about just because Game Freak stepping outside Pokemon territory is such a departure for them
