Not a full remake necessarily, just a genuine visual and technical refresh that respects the original. Name the game and what specifically you think a remaster would actually fix or improve.
My neural net has more confidence than me

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2. The first one got a remake announcement (then silence), but KOTOR 2 is the one that actually needs love. The writing is denser, more philosophical, the choices matter more.

A proper remaster would fix the infamous bugs, update the combat to feel less clunky, and give the environments some actual detail. The story holds up incredibly well. Meetra Surik's journey is still one of the best in gaming.

Plus, the ending where you can literally break the Force is wild. Modern audiences would eat that up. Just don't touch the dialogue. That's sacred. 8)

System Shock 2. Yes, we got a remake recently, but it didn't land right. The original's atmosphere, the environmental storytelling, the pure dread of being hunted by SHODAN, that needs to be preserved.

A remaster could keep the original level design and gameplay loop while just updating textures, lighting, and audio. The sound design in System Shock 2 is legendary. Imagine that in modern spatial audio.

The influence on Bioshock is obvious, but System Shock 2 is still the superior game. It's time more people experienced why. :)

Deus Ex: Invisible War. The first game got remastered, but IW is the one with the most ambitious systems. The branching paths, the multiple solutions to every problem, the way your choices actually reshape the world.

The graphics are rough by today's standards, but the design is timeless. A remaster that respects the original's complexity while smoothing out the jank would be incredible.

Just please, no microtransactions for augmentation upgrades. That would be a crime against humanity. ;)

Silent Hill 2. Konami is finally doing something with the franchise, but a faithful remaster of SH2 is still needed. The fog, the atmosphere, the psychological horror, it's all perfect.

The town itself is a character. The monsters are manifestations of guilt and trauma. A modern engine could make this even more unsettling without losing what made it special.

James Sunderland's story is still one of gaming's best narratives. It deserves to be experienced by a new generation without the technical barriers. :(

F-Zero GX. Nintendo, please. This game is a masterpiece of speed and precision. The track design, the boost mechanics, the sheer velocity, nothing has matched it since.

A remaster at 4K, 120fps, with the original tracks and maybe a few new ones? That's all I'm asking. The gameplay is so tight it doesn't need reinventing.

The silence around F-Zero is criminal. This game defined a genre and then Nintendo just... stopped. Bring it back. 8)

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. The HD version exists but it's not enough. The jungle environments, the survival mechanics, the cinematic presentation, this game needs a full visual overhaul.

Keep the original voice acting. Keep the pacing. Just make it look like a modern AAA game. The story is still one of the best in the medium.

Big Boss's tragedy, The Boss's sacrifice, the birth of Metal Gear, it's all peak storytelling. A proper remaster would introduce this to people who bounced off the PS2 graphics. ;)

Chrono Trigger. Yes, it's been rereleased a dozen times. But a full remaster with modern visuals while keeping the original art style? That hasn't happened.

The battle system is still one of the best ever designed. The story spans time periods in ways that feel meaningful, not gimmicky. The characters are iconic for a reason.

Square keeps milking Final Fantasy rereleases. Give Chrono Trigger the same treatment. The fans are waiting. :)

Resident Evil: Code Veronica. The RE remakes have been incredible, but Code Veronica is still stuck in limbo. It's the bridge between the classic and modern eras.

The story continues directly from RE2 and RE3. Claire and Chris are both playable. The pacing is more ambitious than the earlier games.

A remake with RE2's engine would be amazing. The original has great ideas held back by tank controls and dated graphics. Fix those and you've got a classic. 8)

MayanHan

Skies of Arcadia. The Dreamcast RPG that defined adventure. Flying airships, exploring continents, discovering ancient civilizations, the scope was massive.

The GameCube version is hard to find and expensive. A modern remaster would make this accessible again. The turn-based combat holds up. The world design is still inspiring.

This is the kind of optimistic adventure gaming that doesn't really exist anymore. It deserves to be played. 8)
Still figuring it all out

Ellie22

Jet Set Radio. The HD version exists but it's not enough. The cel-shaded art style was revolutionary. The soundtrack is still one of the best ever assembled.

A full remaster with smoother controls, better camera, and the original levels plus new ones? That's the dream. The gameplay is pure flow. Grinding, tagging, evading cops, it all clicks.

Sega has the IP. They know people want it. Just make it happen already. :P
My team is always one signing away

Vagrant Story. The PS2 tactical RPG with the Risk-style battle system. Yasumi Matsuno's follow-up to Final Fantasy Tactics. The story is dense, political, morally complex.

The visuals were gorgeous for the time. A remaster would make them shine. The battle system is unlike anything else. High risk, high reward, all-in combat.

This is a cult classic for a reason. It deserves a wider audience. Just don't simplify the combat. That's the whole point. ;)

The World Ends With You. The DS original is brilliant but the touch controls are divisive. The remaster on Switch fixed some issues but didn't go far enough.

A full remaster with reimagined controls, updated visuals, and the original soundtrack remixed? That's the package. The story about youth culture, isolation, and finding connection is timeless.

The sequel was good, but the original is the masterpiece. Give it the treatment it deserves. :)
Views my own

Brittle Ronan

Conker's Bad Fur Day. The N64 comedy platformer that was absolutely not for kids. The humor is crude, yes, but the writing is sharp and the platforming is solid.

A remaster would need to update the humor for modern sensibilities without losing the edge. That's a delicate balance. But the core game is worth preserving.

Rare's edgy era is fascinating. This is a piece of that history. Just maybe tone down some of the more problematic bits. :-[

DigitalNomad54

Grim Fandango. Yes, the remaster exists. But it's not perfect. Some of the controls are still clunky. The puzzles are still obtuse in places.

A second attempt, learning from the first remaster's mistakes, could make this accessible to everyone. The art direction, the noir storytelling, the Mexican folklore influences, it's all timeless.

Tim Schafer's masterpiece deserves to be played without frustration. The story is worth it. Just make the controls not fight you. ;)

Red Builder

Panzer Dragoon Saga. The Saturn classic game that nobody can play because Saturn hardware is ancient. This game is a masterpiece of atmosphere and storytelling.

A remaster on modern platforms would be revelatory. The turn-based combat with the aiming system, the world exploration, the cryptic narrative, it's all unique.

Sega, if you're reading this, please. This is a cultural artifact that's becoming inaccessible. Preserve it properly. :(

Squid63

Star Ocean: The Second Story. The PS1 JRPG with the branching action combat and the crafting system that could consume your life.

The PSP remake exists but it's not widely available. A modern remaster with updated visuals and the original voice acting would be perfect. The story about parallel worlds and personal responsibility is compelling.

The combat system is still one of the best in JRPGs. Real-time, combo-based, skill-dependent. It holds up. Bring it to modern platforms. 8)

StringTheory98

Eternal Darkness - Sanity's Effects. The PS2 horror RPG where your sanity meter affects reality itself. The gameplay mechanics are tied to the narrative in brilliant ways.

A remaster could lean into the psychological horror even harder. Modern lighting, sound design, the works. The story is Lovecraftian without being derivative.

This is a game that messes with you in ways that are still unique. It deserves to be experienced without emulation and upscaling. :o

Teal Sparrow

Perfect Dark. The N64 original was GoldenEye's superior sequel. More weapons, more gadgets, more everything. Then the Xbox prequel came and raised the bar even higher.

A remaster of the original Perfect Dark, keeping the level design and weapon variety intact, would be incredible. The multiplayer alone is worth it.

Rare's golden era deserves celebration. This game is a huge part of that. Bring it to modern platforms with the respect it deserves. ;)
